Sunbelt Investment Holdings Nears Completion of Buckeye Retail Hub
Sunbelt Investment Holdings is developing Buckeye Commons, an over 440,000 square-foot complex anchored by Costco.
San-Diego based Sunbelt Investment Holdings is getting closer to finishing a major retail center it’s working on in Buckeye.
Buckeye Commons, which is anchored by Costco, will total over 440,000 square feet and officially has 27 secured tenants, according to a statement from the developer.
Costco opened its store at Buckeye Commons in 2023, and it has proved to be “a resounding success … generating consistent traffic and serving as a major draw for the community,” according to the statement.
Butler Design Group has served as designer on the project while CHASSE Building Team is the general contractor. Phoenix Commercial Advisors’ Greg Laing, Zach Pace and Teale Bloom are handling leasing.
New retail projects are underway and nearing completion at every corner of Interstate 10 and Verrado Way, which is a fast-growing intersection where over a million square feet of commercial space is coming online.
Phoenix-based Vestar’s Verrado Marketplace, which totals about 500,000 square feet and is anchored by Target, Harkins Backlot and Safeway, will officially open this May. New restaurant tenants including OSHO Brewery, Paris Baguette, BJ’s Restaurant and Chili’s Bar and Grill are also now coming to that complex.
And Sunbelt is also developing Buckeye Commons West on the other side of Verrado Way from its first project, where In-N-Out is one known tenant.
This February Sunbelt acquired more land just east of Buckeye Commons and that retail-heavy intersection through an Arizona State Land Department Auction. It placed the winning bid of $62.5 million for a 272-acre site and is planning to build a mixed-use project including retail, restaurants, medical and multifamily uses.
